Our School Zone

Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au which hosts the most up-to-date information on school zones in Victoria.

Students residing within our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined on the basis of your permanent residential address.

Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood.

How to Enrol

2027 Foundation (Prep) Enrolments

To start primary school in 2027, your child will need to turn 5 years old by 30 April 2027. Schooling is compulsory for children who have turned 6 years old.

You will be able to enrol your child in Foundation (Prep) 2027 at Mt Eliza Primary School from Monday 20 April 2026. Further information on Enrolling in Foundation (Prep) can be found on the Department’s website by clicking here.

How do I enrol my child in their first year of primary school?

  1. Find your local school on the findmyschool.vic.gov.au website, which hosts the most up-to-date information about Victorian school zones. This will be updated from 2 April 2026.
  2. Click to download the Prep (Foundation) enrolment information pack here.
  3. Submit an enrolment application online thorugh VicStudents for Prep (Foundation) 2027.
  4. Visit https://students.educationapps.vic.gov.au/s/ sign in with a Service Victoria account to complete the online application form by Friday 31 July 2026.
  5. You will be notified of the outcome of your application between Monday 3 August and Friday 14 August 2026. If you receive an offer, you should accept the offer by Friday 28 August 2026.
  6. Take part in enrolment information and transition sessions during Term 4 2026.
  7. Your child will start Prep (Foundation) from a date advised by our school, in 2027.

VicStudents

This year Mt Eliza Primary School has moved to the Department of Education’s secure digital enrolment system called VicStudents.

VicStudents has been assessed by the Department of Education to a high degree of security in line with the Victorian Protective Data Security Standards and is compliant with ISO 27001, the leading international standard for information security.

For parents/carers (new users Term 2 2026 and beyond) When you click the VicStudents link you will be directed to sign in using a Service Victoria account. Once you have signed in, your VicStudents account will be created automatically. If you don’t have a Service Victoria account, you’ll be guided to create one.

Can my family apply to a government primary school that is not our local school?

Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their local school. Students may enrol at another school if there are available places.

Enrolment Forms

2027 Foundation (Prep) enrolments can now been completed through the Vic Students portal.  For all other year level an enrolment form must be completed and emailed to mount.eliza.ps@education.vic.gov.au.

Year 6 to 7 transition

Year 6 to 7 placement information packs containing details regarding placement and the Application for year 7 placement form, are sent home to families at the start of term 2.

Application for year 7 placement forms are required to be completed for all students in a government primary school, this includes students who will be attending a catholic or independent secondary school.

To locate your designated neighbourhood school, families can use the Find My School link and also read information regarding school zones and enrolling in school.

Completed Application for year 7 placement forms must be returned to your child’s grade 6 teacher by no later than Friday, 9 May 2025.

Families will receive notification of your child’s year 7 placement offer from Tuesday, 1 July 2025.

Year 7 placement acceptance slips (which are attached to your child’s year 7 placement offer), must be returned to your child’s grade 6 teacher by Tuesday, 12 August 2025.

Secondary schools will host an Orientation Day for year six students on Tuesday, 9 December 2025.
